Helpful hints to scanning
  • Scan without a floppy disk in the computer. Save
    to My Documents and transfer to disk later.
    The scanning will move much faster this way.
  • Leydens programs do not scan text documents.
  • SAVE as JPEG!!!
  • Only scan the part of the picture you need.
  • You may need to shut down program and restart
    after 4-5 scans. This is normal.

Step-by step instructions...
  • You do not need to open any programs.
  • Insert your picture in the scanner. Your picture
    goes upside down and in the front left corner.
  • Press the far left scan button on the scanner.
  • Wait while the program opens and scans your
    picture.

Question 2 Where do you want the scan to go???
  • Click on the arrow and choose your destination.
  • Adobe Photo Deluxe
  • Image and Text File
  • Image File
  • Imaging
  • Internet File
  • MS Outlook 98
  • PowerPoint
  • Word

Item 3 Make optional adjustments
  • Click on to output type and then select the
    appropriate choice. (Black and White
    Photograph for a black and white photo or
    Normal Color Photograph for a color picture.
  • Click ok.

  • Click on to selection border if you need to
    crop your picture.
  • Click ok.

  • Click on output size to set the saved size of
    the picture.
  • The larger the picture, the larger the file.
    Files larger than 1.44 MB (which is one floppy)
    cannot be sent through e-mail.
  • NOTE If you cropped the picture, the
    proportions will be automatically set.
  • Click ok.

Item 4 Save the scan now.
  • Click on save as type and choose JPEG or JPG.
  • Name your picture
  • Save to My Documents
  • Choose quality
  • 100 if file size is irrelevant.
  • 90 is still very good quality and will decrease
    the file size.
  • Click ok.

Transferring to a disk
  • Place a floppy disk in the disk drive.
  • Go to Start in lower left corner of your
    screen.
  • Choose Programs.
  • Choose Windows Explorer.

  • Double click on My Documents in left column,
    and the file will open on the right side.
  • Select the desired file, highlight, and drag to
    the floppy icon at the top of the left column.

What is it???
  • Screen capture
  • You are able to select any portion of your screen
    and save it as a picture or bitmap.
  • Very easy and convenient.
  • Soon to be available in many model classrooms.

How it works...
  • Open the program from either the desktop or the
    program files.
  • Minimize the program
  • When you want to save something that appears on
    your screen, push Shift Ctrl P at the
    same time.

  • Go to File and the Save As
  • Name your file.
  • Save on floppy or My Documents
  • Click Save

Uses of pictures
You can now insert the picture into Word,
PowerPoint, or Internet files. (any program that
will allow bitmaps)

Go to the Help section on the top toolbar
And select Contents and Index
