    the state of school-based physical education in

  • To communicate the national standards necessary
    for the delivery of quality school-based physical
    education programs
  • To advocate and lobby the public and governments
    for the resources necessary to improve school
    physical education programs to these standards

  • Launch the interactive portal for the Year of
    Sport and Physical Education under the banner
    Keep the Physical in Education.
  • The portal will serve as the centre of
    communication in Canada for all Year of Sport and
    Physical Education communication and will include

  • Resource downloads
  • Free SIRC research

Logo and Wordmark
  • Develop and distribute the Year of Sport and
    Physical Education logos and word marks for use
    by provincial/territorial associations and
    partners.
  • Internally, the wordmarks will be
  • used on all CAHPERD operational
  • and promotional materials,
  • awards, resources, etc.

PSA Development
Develop a series of PSAs that are linked to the
Keep the Physical in Education. The PSAs will
include key messages supporting physical
education and will be distributed to national
media, targeted magazines, provincial/territorial
affiliates, and partners.

  • Implement a national media plan around the Keep
    the Physical in Education campaign that will

  • Develop a line of merchandise and promotional
    items to increase awareness and visibility of the
    Keep the Physical in Education campaign.

National Calendar
  • CAHPERD has developed a national themed calendar
    for the Year of Sport and Physical Education that
    serves as a teaser to support physical education
    teachers in adopting our campaign into day-to-day
    teaching.
  • The calendar will be available in the Year of
    Sport and Physical Education portal in expanded
    form.

  • Redevelop the QDPE Report card to be posted in
    the Keep the Physical in Education Advocacy

  • This lobbying resource, developed in partnership
    with CAHPERD and CCUPEKA, will be sent to key
    decision makers across Canada, and will be used

National Conference 2005
The Keep the Physical in Education theme will
be incorporated into the national CAHPERD / SPEA
Conference. In addition, two important events
will be hosted
  • Keep the Physical in Education National Forum
    to bring together leaders from a variety of
    sectors to issue a call for significant
    improvements in Canadian school-based physical
    education.
  • The CUPR Keep the Physical in Education Research
    Forum to endorse and present the national
    guidelines and standards that define quality
    physical education.

  • Keep the Physical in Education school events
    are being planned and will be promoted nationally
    to increase awareness of the importance of
    quality physical education.
