Biography and training
  • Chris Drury is a British environmental artist who
    was born in 1948 in Sri Lanka.

Drury studied sculpture from 1966-70 at the
Camberwell School of Art.

  • 1995-96-- Pollock-Krasner Award.
  • 1997-- Natures Prize Scottish Environmental
    Award for 'Hut of the Shadow
  • 1998-- Commendation, Annual Awards of the
    Association for the protection of Rural Scotland,
    for 'Hut of the Shadow'.
  • 2004 University College London 'Art in Health
    Award' for work on systems in the body and
    systems on the planet.

  • Drury used 365 different natural objects to
    create a calendar that explored time, cycles,
    seasons and place.

Chris Drury sees his work as
  • work that seeks to make connections between
    different phenomena in the world. Specifically
    between nature and Culture, inner and Outer,
    microcosm and macrocosm. All of my works, over
    the past 25 years have been concerned with these
    connections. This is what unites the whole body
