27- Pat G. burn-etched the wooden cover of his
poetry book.
28Covers
- Many of the students chose unique materials for
their covers. - This student batiked a fabric cover for his book
at home.
29More Clever Covers
- Laura M. Shows off her unique fuzzy material
cover.
30- Kalee made her cover of fun foam and chose a
metal ring binding.
31- Justin used Sponge Bob Square Pants flannel
for the cover of his book.
32- The cover of this book shows a creative use of
dimension the small square panels with flowers
are raised above the surface of the cover.
33- Nicoles felt letters add an artistic and
eye-catching effect.
34Interesting Insides
- Magazine pages made for an interesting
background to this book, as did the students
choice of white ink on black paper.
35- One student used original watercolor paintings
to enhance the pockets of her envelope accordion
book.
36- Lani burned the edges of the envelopes in her
accordion book to create a faux-shabby look.
(Note to administrators use of fire took place
at home ? )
37- Here Johnson demonstrates the complete unfolded
screen book created by one of her students, who
designed the book so that it can be hung from the
wall.
38- Heres a close-up of Shanes book. Taking an
idea from Making Books that Fly, Fold, Wrap,
Hide, Pop Up, Twist and Turn by Gwen Diehn, he
used a shoebox, two cardboard paper towel rolls,
and a long length of paper to create a unique
book. By turning one of the paper towel rolls,
the book scrolls across a screen cut out of the
shoebox.
39- Heres Shane with his unique book.
