11
Acquisition Outsourcing
  • Ideally a subscription agent may also run a
full-text database, which means online access
will be set up by the agent at a comparatively
moderate platform and title fee (e. g.
    SwetsNetNavigator, OCLC, EBSCO).
  • Value-added services can save a certain amount of
    FTEs in acquisition.

12
Licensing Restrictions
  • Single Workstation
  • Single (simultaneous) user
  • Limited number of simultaneous users
  • Licence fee varying in relation to number of
    potential users
  • User name- and password-controlled
  • IP-controlled

13
Licensing A fine example
  • ASM-Licence 2000
  • Authorized Site For organizations
located in more than one city, each city is
considered to be a different site. For
organizations within the same city that are
    administered independently, each location is
considered to be a different site.
  • Full-text articles over 1 year old are freely
available in both HTML and PDF formats!
  • ASM-Licence 1999
  • Authorized Site An institutional library located
within a single building. Each branch in a
different building is considered a seperate site
and must be seperately licensed. A building is a
single unit of construction. Buildings connected
by walkways, ramps, tunnels are considered to be
    multiple buildings.
  • 250 Online-fee per building!
