Introduction
We are from Settle College and we are here to
talk to you about your website. We are going to
talk to you about the good and bad points of your
website and some suggestions from the youth of
today. Some members of the CDC came to talk to us
earlier this year. These are the questions we
asked.

How do you want the website improved?
We obviously want the web site improved as much
as possible. But we dont really know how to
achieve it. Thats why we asked you.

We are spending money on the surrounding area but
the government want us to spend a little bit on
the website.
Why spend money on the website, not on the towns
or areas around?

Your page rating scheme does not seem to work, do
you know why?
I dont actually know why it is not working but
we are in process in removing it from the
website. It has never worked since I came to the
CDC.

Do you consider imagery an important aspect of a
web site?
Yes we do, but it does cost a lot of money to
employ a professional photographer.

Why is there no separate student area?
There is no separate student area on the website
as there is really no need for one. Many people
believe that we run youth clubs but we dont. So
there is no need for one.

What do you want out of a website?
We want young and old people to think that they
have a place to go when the information desks are
not open. The website is a 24h thing.

Negatives

• Uninteresting home page doesnt draw you in
• Writing too small cant be bothered to read it
• Pointless rating system that doesnt even work
• Only 7 services for residents?!?!
• Nothing on the website for anyone under the age
  of 18.
• Not much real information just hyperlinks to
  other sites suggests lack of content. And the
  one time that it says that its an external site
  (which is a good idea) the hyperlink doesnt even
  work!
• According to the whats on section, only one
  thing is happening in July.

• We would like the website content to include
• About the things going on in the area. E.g.
  concerts
• Information about The facilities which are
  available such as recycling and Swimming pools.
• Information on the area for tourists who have
  never been before.
• To be more child/teenager friendly friendly e.g.
  have a facebook or twitter page

Improvements

• Introduce an A-Z Services page
• More pictures, less text
• Bigger text
• Easier navigation
• Sophisticated search bar on the web page
• Links to other useful websites
• Fully working page rating system to see if this
  new website has worked

More Improvements

• Maps (to show where certain places are)
• News (Up to date)
• Local Events (Coming up, not from last year!)
• Separate youth zone with games and information
  suited for the local youth.
• Smaller page lengths so that its easier to read.
• An and finally section to add a bit of humour

Conclusion

• To conclude we feel that the main points you need
  to work on are to
• Make it available to a wider audience, for
  example have a separate youth area.
• Make the text size larger and have less of it on
  a page, in addition, have more images on a page
  to get a more friendly feel.
• The links need to be more useful.
