Way Ahead for ARNG Aviation

• ARNG Aviation continues to Synchronize
  deployments modernization
• Units Conversions to Modular structure are
  essentially complete
• Deployments contributions remain high
• 06-08 Rotation units are in theater
  1½ Bdes 180 aircraft
• 07-09 units have been alerted
  less than Bde 90 aircraft
• 08-10 units have been notified
  1½ Bdes 165 aircraft
• Modernization is on track new aircraft
  fieldings cascades
• Unit resourcing and readiness will be tied to
  ARFORGEN cycles
• Adequate resourcing levels are critical for
  success

Modernization

• Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) - UH-72A
• ARNG will participate in the Army Operational
  Test
• Establishing institutional qualification
  training at EAATS next year
• Fielding to ARNG expected to start in FY08 and
  extend past the FY08-13 POM period
• Opportunity for mission equip enhancements IAW
  Security Support Bn doctrine
• Joint Cargo Aircraft (JCA)
• Currently in Source Selection
• Expect most Army JCAs will be in the ARNG
  fielding starts in FY09/10
• Services components must synchronize
  stationing, training, maintenance plans
• MEDEVAC Aircraft
• 4 Generating Force Units (UH-1) approved to
  modernize/convert to Warfight (UH-60)
• Conversion pace availability for warfight
  based on cascade of recapped UH-60s

• Armed Recon Helicopter (ARH) - ARH-70A
• Modernizing the Air Cav Sqdn and 4 ARNG
  Recon/Attack Bns to ARH-70A
• ACS in FY10 and Recon/Atk Bns in FY14-16
• UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems)
• ARNG units require all 3 types of Army UASs
• Raven none yet funded for ARNG / need 15
  sets (3 air vehicles) for each BCT
• ARNG units in Combat Theater
  use Stay Behind Equipment Sets
• Shadow 3 sets (4 air vehicles) fielded to ARNG
  / 2 to BCTs and 1 for Training
• starting in FY07 programmed for 6
  sets per year / working to accelerate
• Warrior changing doctrine/structure to
  require set (12 air vehicles) in ARNG CABs
