Sounds like a World Upside Down
7- 1 Corinthians 31-4 Brothers, I could not address
you as spiritual but as worldly--mere infants in
Christ. 2 I gave you milk, not solid food, for
you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are
still not ready. 3 You are still worldly. For
since there is jealousy and quarreling among you,
are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere
men? For when one says, "I follow Paul," and
another, "I follow Apollos," are you not mere
men?
8- 1 Peter 22-3 Like newborn babies, crave pure
spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in
your salvation, now that you have tasted that the
Lord is good.
9I. Struggling to Live Right Side Up
Characteristics
- Worldly
- Undeveloped
- Ignorance
- Problematic
10II. Two Possible Reasons
- False Believer.
- 1 John 39-10 No one who is born of God will
continue to sin, because God's seed remains in
him he cannot go on sinning, because he has been
born of God. This is how we know who the children
of God are and who the children of the devil are
Anyone who does not do what is right is not a
child of God nor is anyone who does not love his
brother.
11Matthew 1324-30 "The kingdom of heaven is like a
man who sowed good seed in his field. But while
everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed
weeds among the wheat, and went away. When the
wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds
also appeared
Tares
12II. Two Possible Reasons
- False Believer.
- Stunted Believer.
- Hebrews 511-14 We have much to say about this,
but it is hard to explain because you are slow to
learn. 12 In fact, though by this time you ought
to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the
elementary truths of God's word all over again.
You need milk, not solid food! 13 Anyone who
lives on milk, being still an infant, is not
acquainted with the teaching about righteousness.
14 But solid food is for the mature, who by
constant use have trained themselves to
distinguish good from evil.
13III. Spiritual Checkup
- 2 Corinthians 135 Examine yourselves to see
whether you are in the faith test yourselves. Do
you not realize that Christ Jesus is in
you--unless, of course, you fail the test?
14My Personal Exam
- Is Jesus Lord?
- Hows my attitude?
- What am I feeding on?
- Am I growing spiritually?
- 2 Peter 318 But grow in the grace and knowledge
of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be
glory both now and forever! Amen.
15Seven Rules for Growth
- Daily Food.
- Fresh Air.
- 3. Regular Exercise.
- 4. Adequate Rest.
- 5. Clean Surroundings.
- 6. Loving Care.
- 7. Periodic Checkups.
16IV. God calls us to be Faithful Servants
- 1 Corinthians 35-9 What, after all, is Apollos?
And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you
came to believe--as the Lord has assigned to each
his task. 6 I planted the seed, Apollos watered
it, but God made it grow. 7 So neither he who
plants nor he who waters is anything, but only
God, who makes things grow. 8 The man who plants
and the man who waters have one purpose, and each
will be rewarded according to his own labor. 9
For we are God's fellow workers you are God's
field, God's building.
17Be Faithful Servants
- In tasks at hand
- In ministry to others
- In dependence on God
- In unified purpose vision
- In bearing fruit reaping rewards
