1.DOES HIV/AIDS affect women differently than men?

• HIV/AIDS does not affect men and women
  differently.This is so because HIV virus affects
  the immune system of both men and women in the
  same way.

B.ARE WOMEN OR MEN MORE AT RISK FOR CATCHING
HIV?IF SO HOW? AND WHY?

• Women are more at risk of catching HIV than men.
  This is more likely because in a single incident
  of unprotected sex with an infected partner, it
  is more likely that a woman will be infected
  because she receives the mans sperms. The sperms
  may remain in the vagina for some time which
  gives the virus more chances of passing into the
  blood. Also during sex the vagina is more likely
  to be bruised than the penis.
• In our society it is acceptable for a man to
  practice polygamy and as a result a single man
  has sex with many women. Due to such
  circumstances wives are at risk of catching the
  virus.

2.WHO IS MOST VULNERABLE TO ACQUIRING HIV IN YOUR
COUNTRY? MEN, WOMEN CHILDREN, YOUTH,WHAT AGE? WHY
ARE THEY MOST AT RISK?

• Women tend to get HIV infection at younger age
  than men.This is because women often have sexual
  relationships with men older than themselves.
  These men are more likely to have HIV because
  they have had more sexual relationships.
  Increasingly men seek younger women for sex in
  the hope that they will be uninfected. Women are
  more likely to be sick with HIV related illnesses
  in their twenties.

3.WHAT EFFECT HAS HIV/AIDS HAD ON COMMUNITYS
CULTURE?

• HIV/AIDS has affected our culture in the sense
  that polygamy which used to exist is now becoming
  extinct because of the deadly disease.
• The custom of inheritance no longer exist due to
  high risk of getting HIV.
• Long back it was taboo to talk about sex in
  public but now, because of the need of sex
  education, it no longer matters that much.

4. WHAT EFFECT HAS/AIDS HAD ON LIFE EXPECTANCY IN
YOUR COUNTRY?

• The life expectancy has been greatly reduced that
  is approximately from 60 to about 35 years of
  age.This so because HIV virus which destroys the
  human immune system is affecting many people of
  all age groups hence reducing their life span.

5. WHAT ARE THE ECONOMIC IMPACTS OF HIV/AIDS?

• Reduced Skilled Workforce
• The majority of those claimed by the AIDS/HIV are
  the able bodied workforce as these workers die in
  dozens there is a brain drainage, others who fill
  in their posts maybe less skilled.
• Wastage of financial resources
• Money is pumped out by companies as AIDS fee for
  the ever dying number. Funds are used in research
  and importing very expensive drugs to stabilize
  the HIV/AIDS virus in patients, the money could
  have been used for other projects and benefits
• Aids levy
• In Zimbabwe an AIDS levy is now paid by every
  single worker and this money could have been
  reserved for other economic developments.

6.WHAT SHOULD SOMEONE WITH HIV DO TO PROLONG
THEIR LIFE?

• To prolong life one should -Get enough rest,
  exercise, eat a balanced diet and consult the
  doctor regularly.

7.CAN YOU BE TESTED FOR HIV/AIDS? WHY SHOULD BE
SOMEONE BE TESTED FOR HIV? HOW EASY IS IT TO GET
TESTED WHERE YOU LIVE? IF SOMEONE IS WORRIED THAT
THEY MIGHT HAVE BEEN EXPOSED WHEN SHOULD THEY GET
TESTED? HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET HIV TEST
RESULTS WHERE YOU LIVE?

• Yes you can be tested for HIV/AIDS.
• A PERSON SHOULD BE TESTED FOR HIV TO
• be able to plan for the future.
• To know their health and HIV status.
• For a peace of mind.
• - It is easy to get HIV tests in Zimbabwe.
• If someone is worried he/she should go for
  HIV/AIDS tests as soon as the person suspects
  that he/she is infected
• It takes a day or two to get the results of the
  tests.

8.ARE INJECTING DRUGS AN ISSUE WHERE YOU LIVE?
WHAT ABOUT SHARING NEEDLES? TATOOING?PIERCING?
RAZOR BLADES?

• Where we live injecting drugs are an issue.
• Sharing needles and razor blades is no longer
  practiced.
• Tattooing is rare and does not pose a real
  threat in our community.
