CTE Opportunities
To help students achieve their career goals, the
Arlington Career Center offers four opportunities
not found in most high school settings

1) Marketplace SKILLS (Competencies) validated
by the CanDo online competency tracking system.
2) Industry CERTIFICATIONS NOCTI and many
others available.
3) COLLEGE CREDIT -- through agreements with
Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) and
other colleges and universities.
4) WORKPLACE READINESS internships, job
shadowing, student competitions, and exposure to
business partnerships.

STEM Opportunities
The Governors Career Technical Academy in
Arlington offers five unique opportunities

1) RELATIONSHIP Multiple opportunities in
school and the community for leadership and
service.
2) RELEVANCE Real-world experiences such as
internships, mentoring and job shadowing.
3) RIGOR -- Academic and technical integration,
including SOL and competency achievement.
4) STRETCH PROJECTS Culminating hi-level
community, client and senior projects.
5) COLLEGE NOW College enrollment and credit
while in high school, expediting a 2-year degree
and connecting to 4-year colleges and
universities.
