now administered each spring in grades 4, 7 and

ADEQUATE YEARLY PROGRESS Overall goal of NLCB
- 100 of students will achieve state standards
by 2014 State Uniform Bar - sets annual
standards for WASL Adequate Yearly Progress -
if school doesnt meet Bar for that year, they
have not made AYP

ADEQUATE YEARLY PROGRESS Schools are required
to report disaggregated WASL scores by 9
subgroups -- including all students, students of
different racial groups, income levels, special
need students, and ELL Total of 37 cells per
school One cell not reaching bar, school is in
AYP for first year Two years in AYP, school In
Need of Improvement

2) Highly Qualified Teachers
Guarantee of Highly Qualified teachers in
every classroom By 2005-2006 school year, all
teachers in core academic subjects must have a
Bachelors degree, and hold state
certification Also, must hold either national
board certification, or be endorsed in the core
academic subjects they teach

3) Parent Communication
Greater level of reporting to parents is
required by NCLB WASL scores now publicly
reported by school WASL scores reported by each
subgroup

3) Parent Communication
If a Title I school, and the school does not
make AYP for two years in a row, special
reporting / communication rules apply.
