The Label

• Should identify the tape without the need to put
  it in a player.

• Producer or Production Company (Including contact
  information)
• PAL or NTSC clearly noted
• Program length in hours, minutes and seconds
• With or without commercial breaks?
• Audio is it 2-channel dual mono or is it
  2-channel stereo?
• Date of production

• Program Name
• Program Number
• Series Title (if applicable)
• Program length
• Producer - Contact information
• Airdate (if applicable)
• Start and End time of each Commercial Break

• 00583000 1 minute of standard video bars and
  1 kHz audio tone on all audio channels. Tone
  should be 0 VU for analog tracks and 20 dBfs for
  digital tracks

• Any special version information

Better Faster Cheaper with Standard Operating
Procedures

• Tape operator has 1 minute to setup the VTR
  without needing to rewind the tape.
• Go to 1000000 and mark the start of the
  program.
• Go to 1283000 and mark the end of the program.
  No need to guess where the program ends.
• Start ingesting.

• White Peaks 100 units

• Analog average levels at 0 VB with peaks to 3 VU
• Digital average levels at -20 dBfs with peaks up
  to 10 dBfs

Headroom for the Lowest Common Denominator

• Once the project is completed and the levels are
  consistent throughout the show, adjust the levels
  going to tape so that the average is at 20 dBfs
  and peaks are up to 10 dBfs.
