Principles of the Standards
  • Section 8 1(a)
  • All selection processes are to be directed
    towards, and based on, a proper assessment of
    merit, equity and diversity.

What the current Standard says.
  • A proper assessment matches a candidates
    skills, knowledge and abilities with the
    work-related requirements of the job and the
    outcomes sought by the public sector body, which
    may include diversity.

  • Assess the merit of all applicants against the
    work-related requirements of the job.
  • Once the suitability of applicants has been
    assessed, use the agencys diversity needs
    (equity and diversity plan) to assist in the
    appointment decision.

    such as the Equity and Diversity plans in your
    business case.
  • Ensure you promote your workplaces flexibility
    options.
