  • Mooted by NUS at 6th APRU Annual Presidents
    Meeting, 22 June 2002
  • Leverage on the diverse and distinctive strengths
    of member universities in education, research and
    technology transfer and application
  • Provide a platform to promote best
    entrepreneurial programs and practices as well as
    to launch innovations
  • Support APRU to take on a catalytic role in
    advancing knowledge, transferring technologies
    and creating wealth for the Pacific Rim.

Challenge (1)
  • An APRU competition for commercialising student
    research
  • Objectives
  • Encourage Masters and Doctoral students to write
    an extra chapter in their dissertations on
    commercializing their research output
  • Possibility of including this competition as part
    of APRU Doctoral Students Conference

  • Each university to provide one or two awards
    which includes the following
  • stipend for 3-6 months to complete extra

Global Start-up Competition (2)
  • Propose that winners of various Business Plan
    competitions at APRU universities compete at
    Global Startup Competition
  • APRU Enterprise could be a co-organizer of this
    competition with INSEAD and members could take
    turns to host the competition
  • Member universities to provide financial support
    for their winning teams to participate in the
    competition annually

APRU Enterprise Web Portal
  • Objectives
  • To create a resource centre for information
    relating to technology transfer and
    commercialization among APRU universities e.g.
    technologies available for licensing, spin-off
    companies, etc
  • To serve as a online platform for APRU member
    universities to share and discuss new
    initiatives, best practices and research
    initiatives, with opportunities for
    collaboration.

    to be worked out

2nd Roundtable for Entrepreneurship Education
Asia, 6-8 July 2005, Beijing, China
  • Objective
  • Designed to gather Business, Science and
    Engineering faculty from leading universities
    with the goal of accelerating entrepreneurship
    education for scientists and engineers
  • Successful Inaugural Roundtable for
    Entrepreneurship Education Asia held in
    Singapore, 28-30 July 2004, led by NUS, Stanford
    U and UC Berkeley.
  • APRU Enterprise will continue to support by
    endorsing the event
  • Led by Stanford, Tsinghua and NUS
