2
LOTS OF WRONG NOTIONS
  • Good place to catch up on sleep.
  • Boring place, doing boring things.
  • Out of date, good for parents, doesnt fit me
  • Spiritual cafeteria where Im to choose which
items I like and go with them.
  • A place where I go for a lecture on spiritual
things I dont think about otherwise.

3

  • Ephesians 522-27
  • Matthew 251-13
  • Revelation 197-10
  • Built on love
  • Church to be Christ pure and undefiled bride
  • Goal of the Lord is to present her a glorious
church spotless and blameless to Him.

5
A CALLED OUT COMMUNITY
  • Word means to be called out.
  • Used of gatherings of people called out for any
purpose. Ill. Of mob called together to
    persecute Christians. Acts 1932
  • The word was intended to picture for us a close
community of people devoted to Christ who came
together to build each other up.
  • The plan was for fellowship to be real. Acts 242

6
CULTURE AND CHRIST
  • Challenge is always there that we tend to allow
our culture to creep into the church. Mold the
church after our image instead of us in Christ
    image.
  • Independent
  • Aloof
  • Distant
  • Meet once or twice a week to study.

7
CHRISTS CULTURE
  • John 1334,35
  • A new commandment love each other as I have
    loved you.
  • His love was unconditional and unending. Vs.1
  • His love served. Washed their feet.
  • His example to show us we are to wash each
    others feet
  • Love the proof of discipleship.

8
APPLICATION
  • Dont be satisfied with being one of the many,
    hidden in nameless crowd.
  • Need to be a part of a small circle of Christian
friends who know each other well and help one
    another grow.
  • Cant know every person in church.
  • Everyone can know a circle of friends and grow
together in sharing your lives for God.
