21Other Considerations
- There are a few other considerations to keep in
mind when coordinating an NCCCO certification. - Seating arrangements are very important.
- Prep course for written examination is optional,
but recommended. - NCCCO has very specific requirements when laying
out a practical course (i.e., length of boom,
diameter of test weight, distances to various
task objectives, etc.). - Spectators are not allowed while practicals are
being performed.
22Other Considerations (cont.)
- Practicing a practical exam on, or before, the
day of the test is permitted. - Specific requirements on the following items
- Test weight construction
- Must be within 20-30 of maximum permissible
single line pull of the crane, working on the top
layer of rope, operating in low range. - The test weight must have a diameter between 2 -
4 and its height can be no more than twice its
diameter, not to exceed 5. - Test course construction
23Other Considerations (cont.)
- Over haul ball (Head Ache Ball) size
- Must be 30 48 in circumference 10 15 in
diameter and have a 2 horizontal white line
painted around its center. - Barrel size and ballast
- Must be 22 in diameter x 34 in height.
- For lattice crawler cranes, 20lbs of ballast are
allowed in each barrel.
24Other Considerations (cont.)
- All information can be found in the Test Site
Coordinators Handbooks (both for written as well
as practical) found at the following link - http//www.nccco.org/general/handbooks.html
