If, during the last AFSA fiscal year (1 May 2008
to 30 April 2009) a Division or Chapter has not
fundraised 15,000 or more, then they do not need
to fill out and submit Schedule G of IRS Form
990.

If, during the last AFSA fiscal year (1 May 2008
to 30 April 2009) a Division or Chapter has not
fundraised 15,000 or more, then they do not need
to fill out and submit Schedule G of IRS Form
990. Conversely, if your Chapter has grossed
15,000 or more in Fundraising during the AFSA
Year, or if a third party raised 15,000 or more
for you, you are required to submit Schedule G to
AFSA so that it is received in AFSA not later
than 15 May 2009. Else you will have to do your
own chapter taxes for the year.

The Internal Revenue Service, after receiving a
number of inquiries about the requirements for
filing the IRS Schedule G (Supplemental
Information Regarding Fundraising or Gaming
Activities) has revisited and revised the initial
requirements for the schedule. Effective
immediately, any AFSA or AFSA International
Auxiliary divisions or chapters that has
conducted any type of fundraising activity during
the 2009 fiscal year and Gross Reported
Fundraising Income (review your AFSA quarterly
report) is more than 15,000 for the fiscal year,
those divisions or chapters are required to
complete all applicable parts of Schedule G and
submit the completed schedules to AFSA
International Headquarters by May 15, 2009.
Divisions and chapters must also submit Schedule
G if Gross Fundraising Services performed by a
third party for a division or chapter are more
than 15,000 as applicable. Again, all applicable
parts of Schedule G must be completed and the
Schedule G must arrive at the AFSA International
Headquarter by May 15, 2009. These are new IRS
rules with which we all must comply. Thank you
