- To refresh our understanding and application of
the Texas appraisal system as we apply it in
Houston ISD - To fulfill state requirements of providing an
annual PDAS/MPDAS update - To be aware of the 2009-2010 Board approved
local calendar and policies.

25Walk-Throughs
- Any designated administrator or appraiser can
conduct walk-throughs through-out the school year - Any documentation that will impact the appraisal
ratings must be shared with the teacher within
the appropriate timelines - PDAS 10 working days

28TSR II and III

30Summative Conference

31Second Appraisal and Rebuttals
- Provide a rebuttal at any time receive written
documentation. - Provide in writing within 10 working days
- Request for second appraisal after a written
observation summary report or summative annual
appraisal report with which the teacher disagrees - File a grievance for dispute resolution

33MPDAS ELIGIBILITY
- Employed under a term or continuing contract with
HISD - Have previous year received a rating of
proficient or higher in each domain of the PDAS
or MPDAS - Agrees, annually in writing, to participate in
the MPDAS and to accept for the current appraisal
year the ratings of the previous years appraisal
as the highest possible ratings for Domains IV
and - who is not otherwise required to be evaluated on
the PDAS
34MPDAS Policy
- Teachers who choose appraisal under the MPDAS
will have the same opportunities to raise their
scores in Domains VIVIII as they would under the
PDAS. - Formal observations will not be used under the
MPDAS. Standards of performance are expected to
be maintained. - Unannounced walk-through observations may be
conducted at the discretion of the appraiser.
35MPDAS Walk-ThroughsData Gathering of Practice
- If the performance of a teacher under the MPDAS
becomes a concern to the principal, the system
provides safeguards so that standards will not be
compromised. - After each walk-through feedback must be
documented in writing and shared with the teacher
within three (3) working days and prior to
another data gathering walk-through - After a deficiency has been observed on three (3)
separate occasions and a conference has been held
with the employee, appraisal on the PDAS is
automatic.
36MPDAS-Teacher Self Reports
- Teacher Self Report I and MTSR II are due to the
appraiser within three weeks of the annual update
training - MTSR II is a document that should be referenced
on an on-going basis to work towards and adjust
the instructional goals for the school year. - MTSR III due at least 2 weeks prior to the
Summative Conference. - Submit the 45 hour Professional Development with
the MTSR III.
