  • The clipboard is a temporary storage area of
    Windows
  • Only one piece of data/information/ graphic can
    be stored at a time
  • Information is placed on the clipboard by using a
    Cut or Copy command

  • As more information is added the prior data is
    lost
  • The clipboard is affected by Cut and Copy
    commands in applications
  • The Paste command copies information from the
    clipboard to the application document

Paint Program
  • Allows you to do free-hand drawing
  • Accessed from the Accessories menu
  • Provides a number of tools to work with
  • Toolbox - controls shapes, lines, fill-in,
    shading and so forth
  • Color palette - controls the color being used at
    any one time

Hints for Using Paint
  • The Paint toolbox controls which object or
    affects can be applied to the drawing on the
    screen
  • Holding down the Shift key while drawing keeps
    the line(s) straight
  • The color palette is used to control the color of
    an object

Viewing the Clipboard
  • The Clipboard viewer is used to see the current
    clipboard contents
  • Accessed via the System Tools option of the
    Accessories menu
  • Clipboard contents appear in a separate Clipboard
    Viewer window

Help Dialog Box
  • Contains two parts
  • Left-hand pane contains three types of help
  • Topics or categories appear here
  • Right-hand pane is where the desired Help
    document appears
  • Once information appears here, it does not
    necessarily change as you move from one topic to
    another in the left-hand pane

  • Contains three tabs
  • Context - contains information about general
    topics
  • Index - contains information arranged in
    alphabetical order by keyword
  • Search - Contains information arranged in
    alphabetical order by topic

Context Tab
  • Topics appear in the left-hand box
  • All topics appear as Web-like hyper links
  • Closed book is an unaccessed general topic
  • Click a topic opens the book and other topics or
    help documents appear
  • Help information appears as a document

Index and Search Tabs
  • The information in these tabs is not accessed as
    hyperlinks like the Context tab
  • Each topic/item must be double-clicked using the
    mouse to access the desired help topic

Printing a Help Document
  • Any Help page can be printed by using the Print
    command of the Options button
  • You may be prompted about whether you want all
    documents for a general topic or just the current
    document
  • When the Print dialog box appears, click the OK
    button

Copying Help Information
  • Any information found in a Help document can be
    copied to the clipboard
  • All desired information must first be selected
    using a click-and-drag operation
  • Use the Edit, Copy menu sequence or the Ctrl C
    keyboard shortcut

    any application
  • Use an Edit, Past menu sequence or issue a Ctrl
    V keyboard shortcut
