Title: Grid Accounting-Gratia

1
Grid Accounting-Gratia
  • Philippe Canal (FNAL)
  • July 2007

2
Since May (1)
  • Finished the upgrade required by OSGs SAM
    (Philippe)
  • Upgraded
  • Database Schema
  • DB Maintenance Interface
  • Probe Library
  • However OSGs SAM effort did not realize they
needed to work on the output side.

3
Since May (2)
  • Released new version (v0.25)
  • SAM support (Philippe)
  • DB performance improvement (Chris, Philippe)
  • Split off main tables (spin off columns).
  • VO renaming support (Chris, Philippe, Jeff)
  • Will release v0.26 for OSG 0.8.0
  • Simplification of lookup of SiteName and
    corrected VOName. (Chriss)
  • Progress being made
  • Birt 2.2 (Penelope)
  • VOMS authentication (Margherita)

4
Since May (4)
  • VORS is monitoring Gratia
  • http//vors.grid.iu.edu/cgi-bin/gindex.cgi?region
    0VO0grid1res0dtype1
  • (Chris with OSG GOC)

5
New-ish Request
  • VO Accounting Infrastructure
  • What is Gratia responsible for
  • Provide collector/report software
  • NO management of the services.
  • Connector with EGEE/APEL

6
Ongoing
  • Upgrade to Birt 2.2
  • First prototype for put together (in 2005)
optimizing implementation time (at the expense
of ease of longer term maintenance)
  • Now putting in place the infrastructure to allow
for easier per-report implementation and less
    maintenance.
  • Updates to the reports
  • Consolidation and simplifications
  • VOMS based authentication
  • For Roles etc.
  • Test Bed Development
  • Schema and Collector enhancements
  • Push for more deployment (FNAL and OSG)

7
Project
  • MS Project file currently available at
  • \\cdserver\cd_shared\Group_Leaders\kennedy\Gratia
  • Accounts for
  • Meeting and Services Administration
  • Development tasks
  • Plan to add shortly
  • regularly spaced milestones
  • soft dependencies indicating priority
  • Planned to use the MS Project file as the
bulletin board to keep track of priorities and
    milestones.
  • Show be up in the MS Project server shortly.

8
Project
  • 9000ish FTE hours (10 completed)
  • More or so including tasks done since beginning
    of June.
  • According to MS Project Resource Leveling
  • Would finish by May 09
  • BUT
  • Some tasks should be off load from CG
  • Some tasks are not detailed/split enough to be
    properly parallelized by RL algo.
  • One resource is the bottle neck.
  • So eye-ball estimation is around 3rd quarter
    2008
  • BUT this of course does not take into account
    diversions and new features.

Current Effort
  • .50 Philippe C.
  • .50 Chris G.
  • .75 Jeff M.
  • .50 to 1.00 Penelope C.
  • .50 John W.

10
Issues
  • OSG unhappy with presentation layer.
  • Need more effort and priority.
  • Not enough functionality
  • Current graphical representation is a barrier to
    understanding the data.
  • Partially due to a low prioritization so far and
    unforeseen effects of early implementation
    choices
  • Main focus has been server side strengthening.
  • Need more proactive contact with OSG
  • Not enough data is being uploaded.
  • Communication not as fluid as hoped for with OSG
    Executive Board
  • Missing staff on OSG side too (deputy facility
    coordinator)
  • Need to redirect some of the energy toward
    communication and outreach.

11
Issues (2)
  • Need also to pursue data validation.
  • 3 equally important priority
  • a) Presentation Features.
  • b) Data validation.
  • c) Scaling considerations.
  • d) Server side improvements required by a), b)
    and c)
  • Ergo more work than we can currently deliver
  • Missing FTE
  • 0.5 FTE java/python server client/server
    developer.
  • 0.5 FTE web UI interface and graph presentation
    expert.
