Mission and History

• The Department of Music provides both
  comprehensive study in music for the student who
  wishes to major in music in a liberal arts
  setting, and general courses for the student who
  wishes to study music to broaden her cultural
  understanding or as a performing art.

Gretchen Senior Voice Recital

• Wednesday, Nov. 28th 730pm
• Student of Marcia Thom
• Performed Arias from various Operas
• Was accompanied by Laurel Sanders 08
• Provided translation of songs into English

Measure for Measure

• November 25,26,27,28 730pm
• A Play by William Shakespeare
• Performed by students of the college and
  professional actors from the area
• Incorporated audio visual (TV)
• Put on by the Babcock Season
• Provided refreshments in the lobby during
  intermission

Fall Dance Concert

• November 9th and 10th, 8pm
• Performed by Students who have a major or minor
  in Dance
• Choreography by the dancers themselves
• Modern music
• Interesting style choices

Fringe Festival

• Multiple arts events at varying times and
  locations throughout campus. All events except
  the final performance (a Babcock Season concert
  by Quink) are free. Expected events will include
  music, dance, theater, art and museum exhibits,
  and poetry/short story readings
• Involving SBC Students, Faculty and Staff
• 3 days of arts events
• - Dinner in Prothro featuring music
• - Performance by the James Piano Quartet
• - Open Mic Night
• - Equestrian Art

My Tasks

• Make posters
• Attend events
• Help with fringe festival ideas and set up

Suggestions

• Have a permanent intern to help Dr. Ross with the
  preparations for the events
• Create a Calendar for each section of Babcock
  (Dance, Theatre and Music)
• Post on Facebook (http//hs.facebook.com/ads/)
• Create a small scale news letter that tells
  students, faculty and staff about up coming
  events for the Music Department
