2 R-2 Academic Achievement GRADUATION
- All students will meet or exceed rigorous
- standards in all academic disciplines.
- Monitoring of performance will include
- milestone assessments
- graduation
3Interpretation of the Results Policy
Graduation The attainment of a diploma of
highschool graduation.
There are two methods by which a student may attain a diploma of high school graduation. Method 1 Satisfy the graduation requirements defined by Board Policy BP 6146.1. Method 2 Satisfy the graduation requirements defined by Board Policy BP 6146.1 in the manner specified in ones IEP.

- SUMMARY OF GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
- According to Board Policy, a diploma of high
school graduation shall be granted to any student
who - Completes a total of 230 credits by completing
the following courses in grades 9-12 - 40 credits of English
- 30 credits of Mathematics
- 30 credits of Science
- 30 credits of Social Studies
- 10 credits of World Language
- 10 credits of Visual/Performing Arts
- 20 credits of Physical Education or JROTC1
- 60 credits of electives
- Earns a minimum Grade Point Average of 2.00 in
courses that satisfy graduation requirements. - Successfully passes the state exit examination in
language arts and mathematics. (Education Code
60851, 60859) - Completes a senior project/exhibition during
his/her 12th grade year of high school. This
project shall be a serious research project or
exhibition which demonstrates achievement of
school-wide learning goals and designated key
content standards. - 1 Marching Band may also be used toward this
requirement.

2006-07 Grade 12 Students with IEPs
6UC/CSU Eligible Graduation Requirements
- In addition to the Board graduation
- requirements, UC/CSU minimum requirements
- include
- An additional year of mathematics
- An additional year of World Language
- No physical education requirement
- A grade of C or better in each required course
7Reasonable Progress Indicators
- There are two key indicators by which the
- staff assess graduation rates
- NCES Graduation Rate
- Grade 12 Enrollment Graduation Rate
- The staff also reports on UC/CSU Eligible
- graduation rates and monitors progress on
- each graduation requirement in order to assess
- progress toward graduation.

18Targets and Strategies
- The staff plan to return in fall 2008 to report
on progress in the 2007-08 school year, to
establish targets for the 2008-09 school year,
and to describe strategies initiated by OUSD in
an effort to meet the goal of preparing all
students for graduation.
