Section Outreach Committee Charter
  • GENERAL
  • The Educational Activities Board (EAB) Section
    Outreach Committee (SEOC) reports to, and is a
    Standing Committee, of the EAB.
  • MISSION
  • To identify and facilitate the educational needs
    of the public, the profession and IEEE members.
  • SCOPE
  • The SEOC will have the lead responsibility within
    EAB of building and maintaining strong working
    relationships with IEEE Regions, Sections and
    Chapters in order to work with these entities as
    partners.

SEOC Objectives for 2006-2007
  • Primary objectives
  • Launch a Member Version of Expert Now IEEE
  • Monitor the post-REPCOM implementation of
    admissions
  • Assist EAB in identifying member interest in TISP
  • Assist EAB in identifying needs and opportunities
    in non-US accreditation and model curriculum
    development
  • Disseminate information on tryengineering.org to
    IEEE sections
  • Assist EAB in identifying member interest in
    continuing education in Standards
  • Secondary objectives
  • Convene Education Chairs of Regions to
    disseminate content
  • Launch the on-line one- stop shop for all IEEE
    educational offerings

  • Expert Now IEEE
  • Send a letter to Reg, Section Chapter Ed Chairs
    with directions to disseminate information to all
    members include information about free trial
    offer
  • Develop guidelines for Section use of Expert Now
    before September launch (using Singapore Pilot as
    the model) with different pricing for Members/Non
    Members
  • Have a competition for Content module development
    by Sections. RAB EAB share the costs with
    Sections Regions. Goal is 2 or 3 modules for
    2007 Presented to RAB, they are in favor

  • Monitor the post-REPCOM implementation of
    admissions
  • Form a joint subcommittee of EAB and AA will
    be discussed w/AA on Sunday morning
  • Develop with AA a mechanism to sample and check
    how the membership is effected by the
    dissolvement of REPCOM, monitor the quality
    (define quality) of incoming members of IEEE

  • Assist EAB in identifying member interest in TISP
  • Communicate to Educational Chairs in the Regions
    and ask them to have members attend the TISP
    meeting who intend to go to the schools

  • Assist EAB in identifying needs and opportunities
    in non-US accreditation and model curriculum
    development
  • Work with RAB to come up with a job description
    of Regional EA chairs RAB in favor
  • Regional EA chair will be the main contact point
    for contibutions from regions on model curriculum
    development
  • Main contact point for Expert Now promotion
  • Work with RAB for an EA chair meeting/workshop in
    2006 and 2007 date will be decided. RAB in
    favor
  • EA staff will write 3 articles on EAB
    initiatives, products, new member benefits etc
    and Regional EA chairs will help with its
    publication in regional newsletters in 2006.

  • Disseminate information on tryengineering.org to
    IEEE sections
  • Develop a promotion plan
  • Assist EAB in identifying member interest in
    continuing education in Standards
  • Work on propoting this initiative and helping
    identification of sections needs
  • Explore possibilities for developing an Expert
    Now module on how to develop patents for US,
    European, and others.
