Background and Status
  • 2002 Web-based CAFU system developed
  • September 30, 2003 First Semiannual Report with
    Web-based
  • 2004 - Further developed the system to include
    the Military Services. Currently, Army, Navy, Air
    Force and TRICARE.

DEFINITIONS of BASIC STEPS
  • Workflow Workflow is defined as the process
    that an audit undergoes while it is in the
    system.
  • Pipeline Series of stages through which an
    audit proceeds in the workflow.
  • Designed to enable a user to stay within CAFU
    Regulation 7640.2
  • Edit Denotes that a record is available for
    edit. By clicking on this icon the Edit Audit
    Follow-Up page is displayed.

WORKFLOW
  • An audit report goes through several positions
    with different fields being editable.
  • These positions are referred to as the pipeline
    or pipeline status. The pipeline
  • positions align with the steps necessary under
    DoDD7640.20
  • Assign The CAFU Monitor can assign an audit
    report to an ACO, if the report is not
    automatically assigned by the system or if it
    needs to be reassigned.
  • Plan The ACO enters the planned resolution and
    disposition dates.
  • Resolve The ACO enters the actual resolution
    date.
  • Disposition or Defer The ACO can disposition or
    defer the audit report for litigation or criminal
    investigation. This is noted by the ACO entering
    a reason for the deferral and the date it was
    deferred.
  • Defer The ACO has deferred the audit report and
    it comes out of the deferral state, the ACO can
    disposition it.
  • Send Document The ACO has completed all work on
    the audit report and sends an email notice to
    DCAA with copy of negotiation memo attached. The
    ACO must enter a document forward date.
  • Forwarded The audit report is stored by the
    system/archived.
  • Correction This is a state outside of the direct
    workflow that allows the next higher level in the
    Workgroup (i.e. CMO CAFU Monitor, District CAFU
    Monitor or HQ CAFU Monitor) to take corrective
    action on an audit report, and reposition it in
    the pipeline if necessary.

Correction by Monitors
  • CAFU Monitors can correct an Audit Report that
    is either in their My Work or has been taken
    over by the Monitor. The correction screen allows
    several fields to be modified
  • Update Contractor information
  • Assign audit to a different DoDAAC
  • Change the report class (reportable/nonreportable)
  • Modify target dates and actual dates
  • Update Cost Questioned/Avoidance Amount
  • Enter or modify Document Forward Date
  • Update Remarks

    report
