Introduction
  • Being a relatively young company, Sure Grip has
come a long way. In fact, driver educators across
North America are making this the number one
style for driving. Now, more than ever, people
are finding the benefits of the Push/Rock style
outperform all other styles of hand controls.
  • As you read through our interactive presentation,
we feel you will come to the same conclusion
the desire to start using the best operating hand
control system on the market today!

Push/Rock Style of Operation
THE SURE GRIP PUSH/ROCK OPERATING STYLE IS UNIQUE
AMONGST OTHER HAND CONTROL SYSYEMS HOW? The
unique operating style places the operating
handle in the palm of your clients hand,
providing them the opportunity of two-handed
control over steering and acceleration Sure
Grips uniqueness not only allows for two-handed
driving but also hours of fatigue free driving!
7
Push/Rock Style of Operation
  • Smooth transition between acceleration and
braking - reduces jerky starts allowing the
driver to start more smoothly, accelerate at a
steady pace, and brake quickly when necessary
  • Reduces muscle fatigue allows user to rest
their arm in a natural position during operation
  • Simple to learn people find they can learn
and perfect the Push/Rock style faster
  • Easiest gas in the industry very minimal
effort required to apply gas and maintain speed
  • Most importantly, people are finding they drive
better with the Sure Grip hand control system!

Who Can Use
Who Uses Sure Grip?
The Sure Grip has been and continues to be used
by a broad range of clientele. The following are
just some examples of those who benefit from the
Sure Grip
  • Amputation
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Dwarfism
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Spinal Bifida
  • Spinal Cord Injury
  • Ataxia
  • Arthritis

20
Why is Sure Grip Preferred?
The push/rock style has become the choice of
operation with end users of all disabilities. The
one thing they all point out is the freedom to
drive a vehicle more naturally. The little things
that non-disabled people take for granted are
given back, after all two hands are better than
one.
21
Why is Sure Grip Preferred?
Testimonies
  • Customers love the extra clearance given by the
Sure Grip as well as the ease of operation
    Hector Huerta, Specialty Services
  • Your Sure Grip hand drive system has filled a
void in the hand control market. The simple gas
and brake technique is easy to learn and can
virtually fit into any type of vehicle on the
    market today. Frank Cogliandor, Rochester
    Rehabilitation Center Inc.
  • It has a very good mechanical advantage,
requires very little effort to operate, works
very smoothly and, best of all, it is not prone
to improper installation that is, applying the
accelerator and brake at the same time. Paul St.
    Pierre CDRS, Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation
    Center

22
Why is Sure Grip Preferred?
Testimonies
  • I believe that they (clients) will be happier
training with your hand control system as it is
lower profile and more user friendly Marcia
King, M.Ed., OTR/L, CDRS, Mississippi Methodist
    Rehabilitation Center
  • Sure Grip gives a true sense of independence
you dont feel like you are using an adaptive
driving device at all! The motion feels second
nature, requiring little effort even with very
little muscle tone. When youre driving, you have
a sense of not having a disability at all! Doug
    Bridgeman, C5/6 Quadriplegic
  • I just wanted to tell you folks how much I love
my hand controls. Since driving with Sure Grip
controls, I feel more in control of my vehicle
    than ever before Carolyn Doss

23
How Do You Use A Sure Grip?
The Sure Grip hand control may be operated in a
variety of ways. With its unique vertical
operating handle, Sure Grip is very accommodating
to user needs. Even if your client possesses
limited hand functions (arthritis, MS, quad,
etc.) the Sure Grip is still beneficial because
of the non-gripping feature. A feature unmatched
in the industry, Sure Grips vertical handle
allows for virtually effortless driving without
the need of a solid hand grip.
24
Hand Positions
Beginner Grip
  • Gripping the handle in this manner does not
allow for two handed driving. However, this is an
excellent way for the user to get a good feel for
the hand control. Full range braking and
acceleration can still be performed and the
advantage of a comfortable ride also exists.
Though some prefer this method, the majority tend
to enjoy the following driving techniques.

25
Hand Positions
Open Grip - Acceleration
  • Using the outside edge of your hand is one of the
ways to correctly operate Sure Grip. Acceleration
is performed by rocking back in a downward motion
with the outer edge of the hand. This method
allows for two-handed contact with the steering
wheel, giving the user a safer style of driving
    while requiring minimal arm strength.

26
Hand Positions
Open Grip - Acceleration
  • Placing your hand atop of the Sure Grip with the
handle positioned directly in the middle of your
palm is another correct method of operation.
Similar to using the outside edge of your hand,
palming the Sure Grip promotes two handed driving
as well as allowing for effortless acceleration.

27
Hand Positions
Closed Grip - Acceleration
  • Having a closed grip will in no way, hinder a
drivers ability to safely use a Sure Grip. Using
the middle of the hand or the area below the
thumb, acceleration can be done just as easily as
with an open grip. Even with a closed grip the
user will still be able to maintain some contact
with the steering wheel using the thumb and/or
    knuckles.

28
Hand Positions
Braking
  • Braking is performed in a forward/pushing
motion, best done with the palm. Pushing the Sure
Grip toward the dash area while driving will
instantly apply the vehicles brakes. Braking in
this manner can be performed easily by those with
either an open or closed grip. This type of
braking method compliments Sure Grips downward
rocking motion allowing one to move from gas to
brake with quickness, ease and precision.
