  • He stood, and heard the steeple
  • Sprinkle the quarters on the morning town.
  • One, two, three, four, to market-place and people
  • It tossed them down.
  • Strapped, noosed, nighing his hour,
  • He stood and counted them and cursed his luck
  • And then the clock collected in the tower
  • Its strength, and struck.

Synopsis
  • The unknown narrator is witnessing the mans
    death. And he describes it as
  • A man stands listening to the church bell ring
    every 15mins. And the people are gathering to
    watch the man. While the clock keeps tossing
    down the time.
  • The man starts counting his minutes life left and
    then cursed his luck. Then the clock collects its
    strength and the clock struck. Which means its
    time for the man to die.

  • The speaker is an unknown narrator. And speaking
    about a man who is about to die.
  • Setting In England somewhere, in the morning. It
    is in a town.
  • The clock collecting its strength is a
    personification.
  • Imagery paints the picture from the point of
    view as if you were watching the event.
