There are two ways to visit the library

1. One of your teachers brings the whole class
to the library.
  • Leave bookbags in your classroom or put them by
    the library door.
  • Follow library rules.

2. Your teacher gives you a pass to the library.
  • Leave your bookbags in your class.
  • Follow library rules.
  • Blue passes are for returning and checking out
    books..
  • Pink passes are for taking an AR test..
  • Stamp your pass when you enter and leave the
    library.

Time Clock
  • If you come on a pass, stamp your pass as soon as
    you come into the library.
  • Stamp your pass again when you leave the library.
  • Return your pass to your teacher.

Magazines
  • New issues may be read in the library
  • Older issues may be checked out overnight

Magazines must be in an envelope to be checked
out or checked in.

Fiction Books
  • Books are put on the shelf in alphabetical order
    by the authors last name.
  • The Call Number is F with the authors last name
    under the F.
  • Example F
  • HAHN

Non-Fiction Books
  • Books are arranged in numerical order according
    to the Dewey Decimal System number.
  • Books are grouped according to subject.
  • Books have a Call Number between 001-999 with the
    authors last name under the number..
  • Example 574.5
  • BEA

Reference Books
  • Must be used in the library for research or
    information.
  • Call number starts with R.
  • Call number has blue label.
  • Reference books cannot be checked out.

Video and Audio MaterialsThe library also
has a large selection of video and audio
materials. Videos can only be checked out
by teachers. If students need videos for
research, ask a teacher or librarian.

ACCELERATED READERAR
  • AR books have pink labels..
  • Students must have a pink pass to take an AR
    test..
  • A Monitor password is needed to take a test..
  • A list of AR books by title and grade level is on
    Workman Librarys Web Site.
  • Ask a librarian for help in finding AR books
    using the catalog

How do students check out books?

  • 1) Select a book you want.2) Go to the
    checkout desk.3) Each grade has a different
    color card. Tell the library worker
  • the grade you are in. your last
    name your first name You will be given your
    card

  • 1) On your library card, write the number of
    the book you want.2) Give the library worker
    your card. 3) The library worker will check out
    your book and stamp the date it is due.

You may keep books for up to two weeks.If you
finish your book before the two weeks, you may
bring it back soonerbefore school, after
school, during homeroom.

2 BOOKS FOR 2 WEEKS
  • Students can check out up to 2 books or l book
    and l magazine.
  • If you need more than two books for a special
    project, just ask.
  • If you need to keep your books longer than two
    weeks, come in to the library and renew them.

If you do not bring your books back on time, they
will be overdue.When you have overdue books, you
will not be able to check out more
books.Sometimes, you will have to pay fines if
you do not return your books.

Fines are a nickel a day
  • Check the back of your book for the due date
  • Check the overdue list in your homeroom
  • Renew your book if you need to keep it longer
    than two weeks

If you need help, just ask.

LIBRARY RULES

Warning!Do not let anyone borrow your book.Do
not check out a book for someone else. Do not
give your book to someone else to return for you.

Your library books are your responsibility
  • If you lose a book or damage a book, you will be
    responsible for it. That means you will have to
    pay for the book.
  • If your friend loses your book, you still will be
    responsible for it.

No bookbags in the library.

Be considerate of other people. The library is a
place for work, not socializing.

No gum or candy in the library

WarningSometimes a witch appears in the
library if you do not follow library rules and
procedures.
  • Dont get caught doing something you should not
    do.
