Requirements
  • Coordinating institutions of CDs and IPs must be
    holders of an Erasmus University Charter
  • One institution accepts the role of the
    coordinating institution and starts the  ball
    rolling  (applicant)

  • Joint development and implementation/dissemination
    of curricula
  • Reinforcing the quality, European dimension and
    innovation
  • Combining the expertise/know-how of universities
    from several countries

  • Two types of CDs
  • Projects for the development of study programmes
    at intermediate or advanced level
  • (PROGS) BAs MA, PhDs
  • Projects for the joint development of European
    Modules, including specialised language courses
    (MODS)

  • Modifying or adapting existing programmes of
    study, or establishing new, jointly devised
    programmes (full cycles)
  • Any level can be covered Bachelors, Masters,
    Doctoral/PhD

  • The project has to develop and cover a whole
    degree programme
  • Implementation and recognition of the resulting
    qualifications by all partners

  • Participation of enterprises
  • Use of new media, open and distance learning

European Modules
  • The European modules aim at providing students
    with a European perspective on their specialist
    subject areas
  • They aim at raising the awareness of the students
    of European culture, institutions and linguistic
    diversity

European Modules
  • Comparative aspects or elements relating to the
    content of a given discipline area in different
    participating countries
  • The development of specialised language modules
    relating to the content of a given discipline
    which are integrated into the programme of study
    of that discipline (priority to LWTL)

  • Modules may focus on the following areas
  • History, society, culture, politics or economics
    of European countries
  • Aspects of European integration such as Community
    law, European economics, or the organisation or
    history of the EU

  • The project must constitute an innovation for the
    universities concerned
  • all participating universities must demonstrate
    that they will include the module(s) as
    integrated elements in their respective degree
    programmes

  • Particular emphasis will be given to projects
    that
  • Contribute to the realisation of the European
    Higher Education Area  Bologna Process 
  • Foster a substantial increase in student and
    staff mobility e.g. by combining public and
    private sources of funding

  • Develop integrated study programmes at bachelor,
    master and doctoral level, including the use of
    distance learning

    purposes and the wider use of the Diploma
    Supplement

  • Special attention will be given to projects that
  • Aim at developing or revising  joint 
    programmes of study covering a complete degree
    cycle
  • Projects that aim at mutual support in the
    development or revision of  single  programmes
    of study

  • in a genuinely  integrated manner

  • Co-ordinating Institution is responsible for
    implementation/reporting of the project

    (contractual period) which will start on October

    Socrates/Erasmus Programme
  • One institution of higher education makes the
    first step and starts the ball rolling.

Intensive Programmes
  • An intensive programme is a short programme of
    study which brings together students and staff
    from universities in different participating
    countries

Intensive Programmes
  • IP aim at multinational teaching of specialist
    topics which might otherwise not be taught at all
  • IPs enable teachers and students to work
    together in multinational groups and so benefit
    from special learning and teaching conditions not
    available in a single institution

  • Intensive Programmes can be run for up to three
    years (multiannual IPs)
  • The grants are annual grants therefore renewal
    applications have to be handed in
  • Minimum duration 10 continuous working days
    (seperated only by a weekend) and three months

  • The number of students from countries other than
    the country in which the Intensive Programme is
    taking place must not be less than 10
  • Minimum duration 10 continuous working days
    interrupted by a weekend
