Warmup Juggling exercises / ball comfort Ask
players to juggle ball ten feet in the air and
sweep ball out of feet when it hits the ground
using instep, then outstep. Ladders as shown /
dynamic stretch tapping sequences / rolling the
ball to middle return to own line. Technical
review. Players should be able to demonstrate
comfort juggling the ball. EX1. Groups of 4.
Square exercises. The players play ball to
one target receiving and playing with right
foot only. Then to the other. Alternating with
partner as shown. One touch, two touches,
receive on thigh, receive on chest, receive on
head, chest to head, two touches on head. EX2.
Players begin by passing ball to opposite line
and following pass (not shown) players then
check to the middle, receive facing own line, and
return ball to own line. Concentrate on
receiving on foot closest to where they are going
(front foot). EX3. Groups of 4/5 One player
is designated a bumper. Players ply wall passes
off player and then play longer pass to opposite
line (as shown). Follow pass. Bumper changes
sides for every pass. EX4. 4 Goal game. (not
shown) Encourage players to take on opponent and
use feints and fakes to change direction and go
to opposite goal. Open up to see opposite side
of the field. Add numbers and progress to 4v4.
Coach restarts play when ball goes out of bounds.

Warmup Intro to juggling. Thigh. Dropping
ball to foot. Can players pick ball up off of
ground using their feet ? Then - Review Ladders.
A. one foot in each rung B. two feet in each
rung C. sideways bring back foot over front foot
(facing both directions). Encourage arms and
legs to move together. EX1. Relay races. A. Run
in and out of cones without ball B. As above
with ball in hands C. As previous with ball at
feet D. As previous using only right foot E.
As previous using only left foot. F. Fast as
possible with a full circle around the far end
cone. EX2. Endless Keep Away - Half players
have ball, half do not. Initially start I a
15x15 grid but adjust as numbers and skill level
allows. Players without ball try and get a ball
form a player with the ball. 30 second game to
see who can have a ball at the end of the time.
EX3. Passing with the inside and outside of the
foot between/around gates as shown. Vary service
and foot that ball is received and played with.
Add gates to grid and have partners move to
pass to one another through the gates (not
shown). EX4. 4v4 game to box goals. Teams can
score on any of the four boxes by dribbling ball
into the area.
