7If you need a loan to start your business, here
are our Top Tips for approaching your Bank
- Be prepared
- Prepare your business plan and be able to answer
any questions - Get professional advice
- Meet with an accountant or adviser to help verify
your projections and plans - Make sure you consider all costs
- Make sure you consider all costs in your
financial projections, e.g. dont just consider
the cost of equipment also consider installation
costs - Put money and resources into the proposal
- Before lending money, the Bank will want to see
that you believe in your proposal. Putting time
and money into your business will show that you
are willing to take risks to make your venture a
success - Make sure you obtain the right type and level of
lending facility - If you need 20,000, ask for it! Dont ask for
10,000 if you know youll need more further down
the line - Be honest
- It is important to be honest about your strengths
and weaknesses. If you have a poor credit
history, let your Business Adviser know as they
will find out eventually
