Leonardo da Vinci early life
  • Leonardo da Vinci was born on April 15 1452 in a
    little town about 3km away from Vinci called
    Anchiano.
  • He was born at the time of the renaissance.
  • Renaissance means the rebirth
  • Vinci is a small city-state in Italy

Leonardos Childhood
  • In Vinci Leonardo went to school.
  • In school the teachers had doubts of him
    succeeding in it. (Exploring Leonardo)
  • In school Leonardo learned how to read write and
    to calculate. He also learned geometry and Latin.

Florence, Italy
  • He moved to Florence When he was about 12 years
    old.
  • Was the apprentice to Andrea del Verrocchio, a
    famous Italian artist. Verrocchio taught how to
    paint, sculpt in wood, stone and clay, how to
    cast metal objects in silver and gold, and how to
    make brushes.
  • Leonardo was so good by the age 2, that legend
    has it that Verrocchio would never wanted to
    touch colors next.
  • When Leonardo was about 17 he left to Milan.

Leonardo The Artist
  • Leonardo painted many important paintings for the
    Christian church.
  • Like The Last supper, Baptism of Christ , and The
    Virgin and Child with St. Anne, but the most
    known was not for the church (dont know how it
    is of or for) the Mona Lisa
  • There is only one painting that we know about
    that is not in a museum or a collection in
    Europe. It is the Ginevara de Benci. It hangs in
    the National Gallery in Washington. (Young

  • Leonardo was like most artist he had to change
    his occupation from art to inventions. He did
    this because he wasnt making enough money
    painting.
  • Leonardo Had widespread of ideas ranging from
    weapons to bridges.
  • Leonardo wanted to invent a bridge that connected
    Golden Horn to Bosporus. Engineers laughed at
    Leonardo because it was so big.
  • Scientist later discovered that his idea would
    have worked.

    at the right angle and right spot that it could
    be very useful.
  • He used gears for almost all of his inventions,
    like the helicopter, crane and for the car.
  • Leonardo also used gears in warfare also.
  • He invented missiles, machine guns, grenades ,
    and a modern tank.

    in creating paintings be measuring distance and
    fitting all of the scene in.

    He had to use math because if he didnt nothing
    would ever fit.

    this so he wouldnt be prosecuted by the church
