OUTLINE

• I will be explaining the reason why we as a
  nation will some day need to have every thing
  that can be automatic, be automatic.
• The United States has been called the laziest
  nation in the world for a reason.

MOTIVATION

• IM Lazy
• The United States as a whole is lazy and I wanted
  to be patriotic
• Simple and easy project (lazy) that will someday
  become standard

INTRODUCTION

• Everyday some one is out and about trying to
  invent the next Escalator or elevator, how many
  times have you gotten on an elevator and the guy
  in front of you presses the 2nd floor button?
• We used to write friends letters now they just
  say twitter me!

PROBLEM STATEMENT

• There are many problems that is wrong with this
  project, the first being the idea that I would
  really use an automatic visor if my car had one.

• One problem that I ran into was that I forgot a
  lot of the things I learned in 253 and blew up 2
  motors
• 2nd was space, first I had too big of a system,
  then I cut it down and didnt have enough room on
  the board to get everything that I wanted.

Even More Problems

• Even after Vigs told me that I needed to have
  resistors to go with the leds that I placed on
  the board, I didnt and blew about 6 before I
  seen what I was doing wrong!
• After I had everything how I wanted it I could
  not get the motors to stop when both buttons are
  pushed.

PROPOSED SOLUTION

• Some of the things that I did to counter act the
  problems that I was having was to go back and
  look up some papers that I had on 253
• I checked out a few web sites to make sure I was
  remembering things correctly
• Used Vigs a lot, ( he's not so lazy)

• I did a lot of trail and error, a few days and 3
  motors later it worked
• I moved a lot of things round

RESULTS

• The main result was that I finished the project
  and it worked very well
• If I could hid it better I probably would have
  kept it in my car. ( and used it)

CONCLUSIONS

• This will come out on a luxury vehicle soon
• One day everything is going to be automatic

CONCLUSIONS cont.

• Some conclusions that I learned from the capstone
  project is when you think something is hard, just
  dont do that do something easy
• Another conclusion is you forget a lot of things
  if you dont use them a lot.

FUTURE WORK

• Possible extensions for this project is to have
  the visor come down automatically when the sun
  hits the windshield
• Voice activated will have to be the next step for
  some lazy person who doesnt want to have to push
  anything at all

PROPOSAL

• I was approached at the beginning of the semester
  by some reps from Saturn and Daewoo to paten this
  idea and put it in all the new cars coming out in
  2010 but were did away with by GM so I didnt get
  paid!!

• Lexus has a car out that parks itself, so dont
  think im stretching it when I say everything will
  be automatic
