1. Teacher Preparation

• Expand the UTeach model for secondary math and
  science teachers
• Employ research-based methods in preparing
  teachers of elementary reading and math
• Measure effectiveness of teacher preparation
  programs, in partnership with the National
  Center for Educational Accountability

2. Professional Development for Teachers

• Focus on schools with high numbers of students

  using research-based methods of early literacy
  and math instruction
• Employ online courses to help secondary teachers
  address new core curriculum requirements
• Create an online student test preparation course
  to review materials covered by the new 11th grade

  focusing on teaching methods in kindergarten
