Frequencies
  • In this table it appears that males are much more
likely to agree than females, but that is because
    there are more males.

9
Percentages Tables
Teachers understand my learning needs
  • Males are 30 more likely than females to agree
    that teachers understand their needs
  • More males and females agree that teachers
    understand their needs
  • The table unpacks the overall satisfaction of 81

10
Reading Means
  • Most surveys use a five point scale to measure
satisfaction. When all the responses are
calculated you might have a mean of 3.25.
Overall the respondents were not quite satisfied
enough to be satisfied. Give it an orange in a
    traffic light report.

Comparisons over time

  • The table shows means data comparing Swinburnes
own survey to the Swinburne, Victorian and
Australian means for the NCVER 2005 survey
  • The chart shows Swinburne NCVER results over time

19
Closing the loop

20
Reading Correlations
  • The logic of correlations is if everyone who
answered yes to Q1, also answered yes to Q2 then
    the correlation would be perfect.
  • Correlation are measured from 0 to 1 so 1 is a
perfect correlation and 0 is no correlation at
    all
  • 0.2 weak, 0.4 moderate, 0.6 strong, and 0.8
    very strong
