• With the arrival of multimedia this was first
  introduced as hypertext, and now hypermedia.

Combining the two

• A word processor has given non-linear form to a
  linear discipline.
• The text it creates is linear, but the author has
  non-linear controls by the use of copy, paste,
  manipulation in construction.
