The Algarve is a top holiday destination with a
strong international image based on its mild
climate, clear sand beaches, the friendliness of
its people and its fabulous cuisine. There
are also a wide range of leisure pursuits on
offer in the Algarve, including game fishing and
water sports, sailing, riding and golf, which is
one of the most widespread and fastest developing
sports in the Algarve, attracting thousands of
golfers from all over the world every year.
Take a peek on the tours we propose, and plan
your trip!
10Silves Monchique
- Today is a full-day of discovery and history,
where you visit some of the most interesting and
scenic areas of the Algarve. - Steeped in tradition, encompassing the mountains
and the sea its the perfect way to acquaint with
the Algarve. - Stroll the charming town of Silves, in Moorish
times the capital of the Algarve, named Xelb.
In Silves you can visit the castle, which dates
from this period and affords magnificent views
over the surrounding countryside. You can also
see the impressive Gothic Cathedral and end the
tour with a visit to the cork museum. - Lunch at a local restaurant.
- From here we continue our ascent into Monchique
Mountains to enjoy the green hills, pure air,
tranquility and dramatic views from the highest
point in the Algarve Foia. We visit the sleepy
spa village of Caldas de Monchique. Legend says
they are source of eternal youth!!! - Ending the experience your chauffeur will take
you back to your hotel.
11Lagos Sagres
- Explore the most fascinating and scenic areas of
the Algarve. - During the morning, you will be collected at
your hotel by your chauffeured luxury vehicle and
you will take the coast to the western part of
the Algarve. - The first stop will be the town of Lagos with
its modern marina pointed with yachts. Visit the
Golden Chapel of Santo António and the old slave
market near to the statue of Prince Henry the
Navigator. Enjoy the magnificent views, over the
intriguing rock formations of Ponta da Piedade.
The crystal clear water and the rock bridges and
grottoes make this a fascinating place to
explore. - Lunch at a local restaurant.
- Follow the coastline direction to Sagres, where
a giant finger of rock points to the ocean and
where a few buildings evoking the past of a place
stands, remembering the Vila and the defensive
fortress founded by Henry the Navigator, was an
infante (prince) of the Portuguese House of Aviz
and an important figure in the early days of the
Portuguese Empire, being responsible for the
beginning of the European worldwide explorations.
He is known in English as Prince Henry the
Navigator . He was the third child of King John I
of Portugal, the founder of the Aviz dynasty, and
of Philippa of Lancaster, the daughter of John of
Gaunt. Henry encouraged his father to conquer
Ceuta (1415), the Muslim port on the North
African coast across the Straits of Gibraltar
from the Iberian peninsula, with profound
consequences on Henry's worldview Henry became
aware of the profit possibilities in the Saharan
trade routes that terminated there and became
fascinated with Africa in general he was most
intrigued by the Christian legend of Prester John
and the expansion of Portuguese trade. - It is a common conception that Henry gathered at
his Vila on the Sagres a school of navigators
and map-makers. He did employ some cartographers
to help him chart the coast of Mauritania in the
wake of voyages he sent there, but for the rest
there was no center of navigational science or
any supposed observatory in the modern sense of
the word, nor was there an organized navigational
center. - In Crónica da Guiné Henry is described as a
person with no luxuries, not avaricious,
speaking with soft words and calm gestures, a man
of many virtues that never allowed any poor
person leave his presence empty handed. - Nearby, at one of the most westerly points of
the European continent (after Cabo da Roca), is
the Cape of S. Vicente (a sacred place for the
Romans, who named it Promontorium Sacrum) opening
on to a vast horizon of sea and sky. Now a
lighthouse perches atop the stunning cliffs. - At the end of the tour, your chauffeur will take
you back to your hotel.
12Wine Gastronomy Sir Cliff Richards wines
- You will be picked up at your hotel by your
chauffeured luxury vehicle. Your first visit will
be at the Adega do Cantor (Winery of the Singer)
owned by Sir Cliff Richard. The Adega has been
built to produce wine from three surrounding
Quintas, Quinta do Moinho, Quinta do Miradouro
and Vale do Sobreiro. - You will experience an exclusive tour of the
vineyards and winery at Quinta does Miradouro and
enjoy tasting, among others, Sir Cliff Richard's
Vida Nova, which is vinified, matured and bottled
at the estate. The Cellar Door shop sells the
full range of Vida Nova wines as well as a
variety of wine merchandise and souvenirs. - Sir Cliff has loved the Algarve for over 40
years and his idea to plant a vineyard at his
property, Quinta do Moinho, was the genesis for
the Vida Nova wines. Sir Cliff takes a very
active part and can often be seen getting his
hands dirty in the vineyard or the winery. Vida
Nova Tinto, Rose and now Branco are produced at
the Quinta do Miradouro winery. - Lunch will be served at Restaurant Ruina in
Albufeira. Using the wall structure from the
city Tower, the restaurant Ruina is opened since
1971, here youll experience the art of good
hospitality and the best fish and shellfish of
the area. - Please note that
- This tour is not feasible on weekends and
holidays - Wine tasting at Adega do Cantor Vida Nova, Rosé
2007, Onda Nova Rosé 2007, Vida Nova Tinto 2007 e
Vida Nova Reserva 2005. The wines offered may

creek heading towards Silves dam. This road then
gently winds up around the hillsides for 7km to
give spectacular views of the dam itself and the
reservoir. The dam is well worth a visit - so
peaceful and lovely views. - Visits to monuments, farms and villages lost in

15A Glimpse of the Alentejo
- Today your chauffeur will drive you to Évora,
located at the Alentejo region an endless plain,
spotted by white and quaint villages mostly of
them topped with timeless Moorish castles.
En-route, you will stop in Reguengos in order to
visit the worldwide famous Esporão Wine Estate
vineyards. - The Herdade do Esporão was acquired by Finagra
with the main purpose of producing wines of great
quality. From 1975 until 1979, the Herdade do
Esporão was occupied during the revolutionary and
agricultural periods. Only after this period
Finagra was allowed to go ahead with the winery
project. The modern cellars were built in 1987.
In 1989 the first wine "Esporão" was considered
one of the best Portuguese wines and three years
later the brand "Monte Velho" was launched. In
1995, after Esporão brands were considered among
the best ones, new investments were made. A new
area of vineyard was planted and the existent was
completely renovated. A dam with 4.000.000 m3
capacity was built, feeding a drip irrigation
system that covers all the vineyard. The purchase
of Perdigões Estate, with 180 ha of vineyards,
the expansion of the cellar and the construction
of the wine tourism complex are some of the most
recent investments of this dynamic company
developing the "Herdade do Esporão". - Lunch will be at the estate restaurant and you
will have the opportunity to taste, further to
their cuisine some of the local olive oils and
cheeses, paired with some of their excellent
wines, in scenery of tranquility, spotted by the
greenery of the cork-oaks and olive trees. Lunch
will be followed by a walking city tour, in Évora
during which you will be lectured on the local
monuments history, like the Roman Temple, the
Bones Chapel and the Cathedral. ''Evora is the
finest example of a city of the golden age of
Portugal after the destruction of Lisbon by the
earthquake of 1755. - Due to part of the town being enclosed by
ancient walls, preserved in its original state
and to its monuments dating from various
historical periods, Évora is included in UNESCO's
World Heritage list. At the end of the day your
chauffer will take you back to Algarve.
