  in That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,
  he bled and died to take away my sin.

  guilty soul imploring turned to Calvary

• 1. Alas, and did my Savior bleed, And did my
  Sovreign die? Would He devote that sacred head
  For sinners such as I?
• 2. Was it for crimees that I had done He groaned
  up on the tree? Amazing pity, grace unknown, And
  love beyound degree!
• Chorus At the cross, at the cross where I first
  saw thelight, And the burden of my heart rolled
  away, It was there by faith I received my sight,
  And now I am happy all the day!
