• My Experience
• Ive been teaching for 3 years at Mackie.
• I have taught grades 7 and 3 in the past, but 6
  is my favourite.
• I have completed my Masters degree in teaching
• I also worked at an all boys private school

Goals

• To give you the academic tools you need to
  progress to 7th grade.
• To provide a supportive learning environment
  where EVERYONE can learn
• To have fun
• To make new friends, discover new interests, and
  be nice to each other
• To have each of you look forward to coming to
  school each and everyday, and always give your

Class Content

• We will cover all the subjects and topics that
  our Province believes are important for you to
  learn during 6th grade.
• We will be taking a province wide test at the end
  of the year called EQAO

Language - READING

• 20 minutes of independent reading every morning
  as soon as you enter the classroom
• 20 minutes of reading for homework every night
• Literature circles (second term)
• Possible Novel Studies (Outsiders, Holes, Bridge
  to Terabithia, Hatchet, etc.)

Language - WRITING

• Journal writing on various topics
• We will cover many different types of writing
  (Narratives, Letters, Recounts, Persuasive
  writing, information reports, Creative, Poetry,
  procedural etc.)
• Book reports
• Reading responses

LANGUAGE - SPELLING

• Spelling test every Friday (super Champ)
• Spelling homework due Friday morning
• Other spelling assignments (Spelling Bees, etc.)

• Math tests and quizs will make up most of your
  math marks
• Questions will be taken right from your math
  homework
