  Coursework and theory
• To know what the coursework units are and how
  they are assessed
• To understand how the theory is assessed

Rules reminder

• When the teacher is talking you do not interrupt
  if you have a question put your hand up
• Respect the equipment at all times
• Respect each other
• Follow the normal rules for any classroom
• Always hand in your homework on time
• Complete coursework to the highest standard
• No listening to music using headphones!

Not just coursework!

• GCSE ICT is assessed as
• 60 Coursework
• 40 Examinations
• Double lesson Coursework
• Two singles Theory
• One theory homework each week (past exam
  questions). All homework should be typed if
  possible
• Throughout the year you are expected to complete
  coursework in your own time at home and in school
  during break and lunchtimes you cannot complete
  it all in class!
• Because of this you MUST try to get your self a
  memory stick (at least 512Mb) to move files around

External Assessment

• Two examinations
• each paper is 1 ½ hours long
• Paper 1 has some multi choice
• Nearly all questions are short answer
• All pupils will be entered for the higher level

• 6 Units each worth 10 of your final mark
• Each unit is marked internally by the teacher
  you are given 1 attempt to improve it
• Each is based on a software application e.g.
  Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, IE

• An A or A is only achievable if coursework is
  completed to a high standard and deadlines are
  met
• An A can only be achieved by thorough and
  ongoing revision. Getting full marks in the
  coursework is not enough
