  • Managing Risk has become a high profile part of
    our industry
  • We need to ensure that our members support Resort
    Management in this area
  • We produce excellent first-aiders
  • We need to better prepare them to be excellent
    patrollers

Terminology - CSA
  • Risk
  • the chance of injury or loss as defined as a
    measure of the probability and severity of an
    adverse effect to health, property, the
    environment or other things of value
  • Risk Management
  • the systematic application of management
    policies, procedures and practices to the tasks
    of analyzing, evaluating, controlling, and
    communicating about risk issues

  • Hazards
  • Those things, that if not dealt with, reduce the
    probability of having a good run/day/year/life
  • Dealing with Hazards
  • Taking the necessary action to reduce or remove
    the hazard, alone or in cooperation with Resort
    Management

Who Owns Responsibility for Risk Management?
  • Resort Management
  • Assisted by the volunteer patrol as defined by
    the working relationship specific to your resort

Defining the Working Relationship
  • Regardless of how it starts, it ends with the
    Patrol Leader and Resort Management
  • The Key is COMMUNICATIONS
  • Between the patroller and the PL, APL, Team
    leader
  • Between the PL and the Resort
