In an emergency situation

• Change direction towards the new heading
• Then care about the rest of the calculations

• Take your time, get organized
• Rule of thumb computations are good enough to
  begin with
• Consider diversion needs early on in your flight
  planning process (e.g. fuel?)
• Preflight contingency planning prevents stress in
  the cockpit
• In an emergency, fly the helicopter first, then
  care about accurate computations
