What is PDC?

• Personal Development Counseling--courses to help
  you be successful in college
• Classes to help you explore and learn about you,
  colleges, majors, careers, and personality
• You will earn transferable college credit to UC,
  CSU and many Independent Universities on your
  Cuyamaca College transcript that you can take
  anywhere!
• You will earn General Education credit for CSU,
  Area E, Lifelong Understanding
• You may also earn high school credit

• Because ENROLLMENT FEES ARE WAIVEDand you will
  get COLLEGE CREDIT and high school credit for
  FREE! (that is double dipping)
• To help guide you through the college search
  process during your junior and senior years in
  high school
• Connect with your college counselor while in PDC!

Who Teaches PDC?

• Academic, Career and Personal Counselors teach
  PDC!
• Many of the local high school counselors in GUHSD
  teach PDC at your high school campus
• Teachers must have a Masters degree in
  counseling and most have experience with college
  admissions to guide your college planning process

What Will I Learn?

• You will learn college study skills (much like
  AVID-Advanced Via Individual Determination in
  high school) including time management, studying
  for tests and taking notes
• You will learn the college admissions process
  (how to fill out applications, writing the
  personal statement, applying for financial
  aid/scholarships, searching for the best-fit
  college, and more)
• You will set goals and plan for your future life
  success
• PDC will help you choose a career and major for
  college and life!

How do I Sign Up?

• Visit the website at www.cuyamaca.edu/pdc
• Juniors and Seniors are eligible to take the
  class
• Your parent and counselor must sign the special
  CC/HS Authorization form and turn it into
  admissions at Cuyamaca College
• Fill out the online application by going to the
  Cuyamaca website at www.cuyamaca.edu and clicking
  Apply Online
• Enroll/register in the course you are interested
  via WebAdvisor
• See your college or high school counselor for
  help
• Attend an application workshop if your school
  offers one
