  • High school graduation requirements
  • Plans after high school (including college
    admissions requirements)
  • Interests and Abilities
  • Classes that you may want to take in 11th or 12th
    grade
  • Always easier to drop a class for a prep period
    later (not as easy the other way around)

You should NOT make decisions based on
  • Classes that your friends are taking
  • Which classes are the easiest
  • Who teaches the course

selection
  • Registration Manual (on-line)
  • Parents or any other adults you trust and respect
  • Teachers, Counselors, Coaches
  • Older students
  • On-line resources that identify college admission
    criteria

Registration Information
  • Receive registration information and materials
    today (Feb. 4th) Please share with your
    parent/guardian.
  • Registration manual is updated and posted on-line
  • You will have just over a week to review
    information and seek advice
  • Course selections will be made on Thursday,
    February 19th

Graduation Requirements
  • Pass all required courses
  • 4 credits English
  • 3.5 credits Social
  • 3.0 credits Math (including Statistics)
  • 3.0 credits Science
  • 1.0 credit PE
  • .75 credit Health
  • .25 credit Speech
  • 1.0 credit Visual or Performing Art
  • 23.5 TOTAL CREDITS
  • Pass MCA/Grad Tests in Writing (9), Reading (10)
    and Math (11)

Additional Items
  • 10th grade can be a tough year more independent
    work and more difficult reading
  • Take advantage of resources EARLY!
  • Teachers, peers (study groups), tutors, etc.
  • Maintain a good GPA while.
  • Taking challenging courses that will best prepare
    you for your plans after high school
  • Next year we will be encouraging you to research
    and learn about post-secondary options, but it is
    never too early to start that on your own (and it
    tends to give meaning to what you are doing now).
