Title: Zoomable user interface as a medium for slide show presentation.

1
User Interface
Zoomable user interface as a medium for slide
show presentation.
2
ltAbstractgt
The Zoomable User Interfaces(ZUIs) are an
alternative presentation medium to address
several common presentation problems. ZUIs
offer new techniques and several cognitive
benefits. The author introduce a tool to
simplify the creation and delivery of zoomable
presentations.

lt benefits of ZUI presentations gt
  1. Simple navigation for improvisation.
  2. Decoupled paths and content.
  3. Hierarchical support.
  4. Creative control.

lt Cognitive benefits of ZUI presentations gt
  1. Dual encoding in memory.
  2. Meaningful spatial structure.
  3. Landmarks.
  4. Improved overview support.
  5. Incrementally revealing content.
  6. Presentation progress.
  7. Animated slide transitions.
  8. Sense of semantic distance.

lt Implementation of CounterPoint gt
Purpose of the CounterPoint. How to use the
CounterPoint. Function of the CounterPoint.

lt Authoring in CounterPoint gt
  1. Starting in PowerPoint.
  2. Creating spatial arrangements.
  3. Creating scripted paths.

lt Delivering presentations in CounterPoint gt
  • Two modifications by CounterPoint.
  • - the presenter can press the up arrow key to
    navigate
  • up the previously defined hierarchy.
  • - a presenter to dynamically navigate to
    various interesting
  • locations in the presentation.
  • 2. Principles for authoring ZUI presentations
  • - Visual chunking (59).
  • - Spatial configuration.
  • - Balancing area and scale.

space and puts all slides at the same
magnification.

lt Conclusion gt
ZUIs as an alternative medium for slide show
presentations and enables spatial navigations,
paths, and distinguished levels of detail with
multi-scale 2D spatial arrangements. ZUIs also
allow for the replacement of the slide transition
with animated viewpoint traversals through the
multiscale 2D space.
