Title: Dun Guzepp Zerafa Primary and Kindergarten School
1Dun Guzepp Zerafa Primary and Kindergarten
School Fgura Malta
2Our Kindergarten centre is in Fgura, Malta.
Fgura is a very busy village in the southern
part of the island. Although it is a very modern
village, it dates back to Punic times. Six tombs
which date back to the third and fourth century
BC were excavated. About fifty years ago Fgura
was a small, quiet village with a few scattered
farms. Then an industrial estate was built and
the village grew into a commercial centre with
about 13,000 inhabitants. The centre of the
village is the parish church which was built
recently as the old church became too small for
the locals. The festa is the main social event
in the village.

8- SCHOOL AIMS
- We seek
- to foster a climate which demonstrates that the
school is a caring establishment which recognizes
the worth of every individual and in which all
are aware of both one's rights and
responsibilities - to assist all pupils to develop their
intellectual potential to the highest possible
level - to help pupils participate in a wide range of
activities, take care of their health and acquire
attitudes of tolerance and sympathy for others - to work effectively and in partnership with
parents - to be an outward looking school which encourages
its pupils to be aware of global issues
especially environmental issues.
9The Aims of Kindergarten Education The main aim
at kindergarten level is to enhance the holistic
development to help children grow and develop
socially, emotionally, morally, physically and
intellectually. Play is used as the main
pedagogical approach. A thematic approach is used
in the kindergarten. A topic includes activities
in language arts, social studies, creative and
art activities, drama, music, science and maths.
10The children express themselves creatively
through language, movement, music and art. The
children want to learn about their environment by
exploring, listening, discussing, touching,
tasting and smelling. They are encouraged to
think, try to make generalization and solve
problems. They work happily with other children
and with adults. They also try to extend or
broaden their knowledge about their world.
