    work. Must work in grey area

    continue to emerge

    difference?

Ways forward
  • Move from knowledge to policy and practice
  • Need to affect social/political attitudes to
    pastoralists and poverty reduction in drylands
  • If we are to shed welfare based interventions,
    must have functioning policy to fill the void
  • - Policy must be written with realistic
    actualization in mind
  • Drought risk must be treated as regional cross
    sector issue
  • - Its elements must be treated as specific and
    not generalized issues

Ways forward for the Forum
  • The need to seek out new watys of sythesizing
    varied sources of disaster risk management
    knowledge
  • Drought Forum as knowledge broker
  • - Collection and analysis of successful and
    usuccessful cases
  • Begin to build tools and guidlines for putting
    policy into practice
