MILFORD HIGH SCHOOL CRAFT SHOW

PURPOSE
  • To raise funds to support all athletes
  • To involve the community in the process
  • To further the involvement of families in the
    support of all athletics

WHEN
  • Always scheduled on the 1st Saturday in December
    (for more than 30 years)
  • Crafters setup at 7 a.m. on Saturday
  • Shopping is from 900 a.m. to 330 p.m.

WHO
  • 1 Chairperson to function year round to
    coordinate all aspects of the craft show
  • 1 Concessions director from Athletic Boosters
  • Athletic Director
  • Student and adult workers representing ALL teams

Layout
  • 8 x 5 booths in all hallways
  • 11 x 5 spaces in the small gym
  • 15 x 5 spaces in the commons
  • 15 x 5 spaces in the large gym

VOLUNTEERS
  • PARKING adult volunteers arrive at 645 a.m.
    and direct crafters for unloading and remind them
    to move to junior high or soccer lots where we
    have shuttle vans to return them to the high
    school. Large vehicles park by the loading
    docks. Finished at 9 a.m.

This is traditionally soccers area of
responsibility

More Volunteers
  • SECURITY- these adults stand at the 7 entrances
    and permit only the crafters to enter prior to 9
    a.m. Needed from 815 a.m. until 9 a.m. Accept no
    excuses to enter!

Baseball has handled this with help from football

More Volunteers
  • GREETING AND MAP HAND-OUT - Adults and students
    stand at the 7 entrances from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    and distribute the craft show pamphlet and give
    directions.

The cheerleaders have taken over this
responsibility

EVEN MORE VOLUNTEERS
  • Morning Setup students arrive by 7 a.m. to
    assist crafters in unloading their supplies and
    setting up their booths. Finished by 9 a.m.
  • Help direct crafters to their space location.

Boys and Girls Volleyball and Basketball
frequently handle this

AND MORE VOLUNTEERS
  • SHUTDOWN - students arrive 315 p.m., divide into
    small groups and cover a section of the craft
    show layout and assist crafters in packing and
    carrying their supplies to their vehicles. Done
    by 530

Girls and Boys Basketball and Volleyball share
this depending on their schedules

PREPARATION
  • LAYOUT on Friday night students with 6 adults
    meet at 430 or 5 p.m. and mark the booth spaces
    in tape and affix name and number markers. By
    730 or 8 p.m. this should be finished

Cross Country and Track get involved in this
function

LATE SET-UP
  • On Friday night whichever basketball team has the
    last practice should stay an extra half hour to
    mark the large gym booth spaces.

BAKE SALE
  • All athletes are asked to donate small homemade
    goods to be sold in the cafeteria with lunch
  • OR larger homemade items (whole cakes, pies, etc)
    to be sold whole to take home

All teams participate in this

CONCESSIONS
  • Coffee, doughnuts, lunch sandwiches, snacks and
    beverages are sold in the cafeteria
  • This part of the craft show is run by the head of
    concessions for the athletic boosters

Adults from all sports volunteer to work 2 hour
shifts in the cafeteria from 7 a.m. to 230 p.m.

OUR RESULTS
  • The MHS Athletic Boosters usually earn over
    10,000 from this one day event.
