• Initiated as a pilot in 1999 with ten sites
• The pilot was funded by a grant from the
  Environmental Protection Agency

Basic Criteria for Site Selection

• Programs supporting K-12 education
• Formal partnership between one of the agencies
  and a school or schools
• Ongoing program delivery
• Local partnership support volunteers,
  non-profits, businesses, colleges universities,
  etc.
• Self-sustaining

  (through the website, meetings, collaborative
  projects, distance learning)

  sponsoring agency.

  has been provided by EPA and individual agencies.
