The Early Years
  • Timothy Berners-Lee was born 6/8/55
  • He was born in London, England
  • He graduated from Emanuel school in 1973
  • Tim graduated from the Queens College at Oxford
    University in 1976 with a BA in Physics
  • While there he made a computer with nothing but a
    old television, M6800, TTL gates, and a soldering
    iron

A Working Man
  • After his graduation he gained a job at Plessey
    Telecommunications Limited
  • In 1978 Tim left to gain employment at D.G. Nash
    Limited
  • While at D.G. Nash Limited he wrote type setting
    software for intelligent printers and
    multitasking operating systems
  • After his time at D.G. Nash Ltd., he worked as an
    independent consultant for a year and six months

Working Man continued
  • This period included the six months where he was
    a consultant software engineer at CERN
  • While he was there he created enquire for his
    own private and personal use
  • In 1981 Tim worked for John Pooles Image
    Computer Systems Limited with technical design
    responsibility until the year of 1984
  • In 1984 Tim joined CERN

Genius At Work
  • In 1989 Tim proposed global hypertext project
    also known as World Wide Web
  • 1994 Tim founded the company World Wide Web
    Consortium at the Laboratory for Computer Science
    in MIT
  • 1999 he was the first holder at 3com Chair at LCS
  • He later wrote the book Weaving the Web
