OTHER EVENTS THIS YEAR

• G20 Summit London - 2 April 2009 - discussion on
  climate change unlikely given other items on the
  agenda
• IPCC meetings - agreed to participate in IPCC
  special report on renewables
• G8 Activities - Italy host government ICC will
  as usual submit a letter to the G8
• World Business Summit on Climate Change - May
  24-26, Copenhagen ICC invited, prepcom to take
  place beforehand, not just business other major
  groups involved as well
• World Climate Conference (WCC) 3 - August 31-
  September 4, Geneva ICC should have a rep there
  to report back on activities
• U.S. Major Economies Initiative (MEM) will
  continue but role of USA may change
• Warsaw Dialogue on Sectoral Approaches

IPR AND CLIMATE CHANGE

• Presentation from Anthony Taubman, Director,
  Global IP Issues Division, WIPO
• IPR more than patents
• IPR should be seen as a benefit and tool for
  technology dissemination not a barrier
• Current processes and procedures flexible enough
  to facilitate the requirements under climate
  change
• Good examples in health area, need some case
  studies to illustrate the issues

• Review of Energy Today and Options for Tomorrow
  Policy Statement final comments to be sent
  should be finalised by May 09
• Sectoral Approaches Discussion Paper to be
  finliased ASAP
• Bio-energy Discussion Paper final comments to
  be sent in so that it can be finalised for CSD
• What is intellectual property? - Paper needs to
  be contextualised and issues raised by presenter
  included
• Include relevant work from other areas

• Proposed ICC Work Streams/papers to be developed
  or updated
• Adaptation new paper to be developed focusing
  on policy and building on existing paper.
  Incorporate funding Adaptation Fund and ensure
  links with water
• Energy Efficiency - current draft paper will be
  expanded to include case studies/best practices
  examples make sure we partner with other business
  organisations to get a broad range of examples
• Technology matrix will be expanded and sent to
  all sectoral associations to determine if it
  would be useful. An internal and external
  version will be developed

• Brief presentation on evolution of market
  mechanisms (Andrei Marcu)
• Possible paper on evolution of market mechanisms
  (CDM, etc)
• Discussion on the development of Finance and
  Climate Change paper it was agreed that a paper
  in the financial issues related to climate change
  needs to be developed

• Expansion of market mechanisms, though not too
  technical no duplication of existing work
• Focus on financial architecture of post 2012
• Collaborate with ICC tax commission (green taxes)
• How do companies make investments?
